Meet Josie Naron
Oral history, archives, zines, and more. My work draws upon an interdisciplinary background in academic history, oral history, public history, and an overarching commitment to community-generated knowledge. I want to make archival materials accessible, relevant, and engaging for broader sectors of the public. I bring a unique digital toolkit to every project—particularly methods that utilize audio/visual materials in fresh, innovative ways—and can't wait to collaborate.
Since graduating from New York University with a MA in Archives and Public History in 2020, I've...
-
Developed an in-house oral history program for the Wildenstein Plattner Institute, now consisting of 20+ interviews, recreating artists' worlds and practices through memory
-
Digitized thousands of documents, artifacts, and oversized materials in support of the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research's grant-funded projects
-
Workshopped ways to transform academic research into public materials, from converting academic work into zines to writing pieces for blogs like In geveb and ACID FREE
-
Honed graphic design and information visualization skills while working as a mutual aid organizer with Pocket Change Pools
-
Grown my technical skills with audio programs like Logic Pro, Audacity, Descript, and Adobe programs
